Login Nikolajewitsch Bolshev ( Russian Логин Николаевич Большев , English transcription Login Bolshev ; born March 6, 1922 in Moscow ; † August 29, 1978 ibid) was a Soviet mathematical statistician.

Bolshev graduated from Lomonosov University in 1951 , then went to the Steklov Institute and became a professor in 1969. He was a student of Andrei Kolmogorow .

With Nikolai Wassiljewitsch Smirnow he published a table of mathematical statistics in 1965.

Bolshev's scientific area of ​​interest is probability theory , mathematical statistics and their applications.

Scientific papers by Bolshev are devoted to boundary theorems and asymptotic expansions of probability distributions widely used in mathematical statistics, as well as other related theoretical and applied problems. He succeeded in constructing the theory of asymptotic expansions for the basic probability distributions widely used in applied and theoretical studies.

Since November 26, 1974, Bolshev was a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. Since 1970 he was a member of the International Statistical Institute , as well as a member of the editorial team of the journal “Probability Theory and Its Applications”.
