The local railway Chodau – Neudek was a railway connection in today's Czech Republic , which was originally built as a state-guaranteed local railway by the Austrian Local Railway Company (ÖLEG). It connected Chodau (today: Chodov) with Neudek (today: Nejdek) in northwestern Bohemia .

history

On September 8, 1880, the Austrian Local Railway Company received “the right to build and operate a local railway ... from the Chodau station of the a. priv. Buschtěhrad Railway, possibly including the existing towing railway leading to the “Theophil” and “Friedrich” coal pits (“Falkonia wing”) to Neudek ”. The concessionaires were obliged to "begin construction of the railway immediately and to complete it by December 31, 1881 ". The Austrian state guaranteed a return on investment capital of 5% per year. The interest-bearing investment capital was 900,000 guilders ö.W. set. The state also reserved the right to redeem the licensed railway at any time.

The line was opened on October 2, 1881 for freight traffic and on December 20, 1881 for passenger traffic. The ÖLEG initially carried out the operation itself, then from 1886 the kk Staatsbahnen (kkStB). The 1888 timetable recorded three mixed pairs of trains over the entire route. Two more trains were added for excursion traffic on Sundays and public holidays.

With the nationalization of the ÖLEG on January 1, 1894, the line finally became the property of the Austrian state. The section between Neurohlau and Neudek was finally included in the newly built main line from Karlsbad to Johanngeorgenstadt from 1899.
