The local railway Kanitz-Eibenschitz-Oslawan (Czech: Místní dráha Kounice-Ivančice-Oslavany , also Kounicko-Ivančicko-Oslavanská dráha; KIOD ) was a private local railway in today's Czech Republic . The route leads from Moravské Bránice via Ivančice to Oslavany .

history

On March 31, 1912, the municipality of Eibenschitz was grantedthe concession to build and operate a standard-gauge local railway from the Kanitz-Eibenschitz station of the kk state railway to Oslawan ”. The company's share capital was 854,000 kroner in 4,271 ordinary shares of 200 kroner each. The line was opened on July 14, 1912.

The operation was carried out by the Brno Local Railway Company (BLEG) on behalf of the local railway Kanitz-Eibenschitz-Oslawan . From January 1, 1925, the Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD) took over this task.

Due to economic difficulties, the company obtained on January 24, 1936 the cancellation of the concession by the Czechoslovak Ministry of Railways. The operation was stopped.

On March 8, 1937, the company was finally nationalized. The line was integrated into the ČSD network and traffic was resumed.

The route still exists. (2008)

Locomotives

The local railway Kanitz-Eibenschitz – Oslawan procured two quadruple-coupled local railway locomotives for their route, as they were also procured by the kk state railways as class 178 . They received numbers 1 and 2.

After the cessation of operations on the line, the locomotives came to the Otrokovicko – Zlínsko – Vizovická dráha (OZVD) and were given the numbers 422.902 and 903. Both locomotives were later added to the Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD) as 422.0113 and 422.0114 . They were not taken out of service there until 1966 and 1962.
