The BSG Lokomotive Magdeburg (short Lok Magdeburg) was an East German sports club. It existed from 1948 to 1990. The legal successor was the ESV Lok Magdeburg founded in 1990.

history

The BSG Lokomotive Magdeburg was founded in 1948 as a railway sports club. In field and indoor hockey , the club recorded several medal wins at GDR team championships. The club also made it into the top division of the GDR in badminton . With the establishment of the ESV Lok Magdeburg in 1990 and the associated inclusion in the Association of German Railway Sports Clubs, several branches separated from the main club in the following years and founded their own clubs (badminton, football , motor sports and tennis ). Further departments moved to other sports clubs in the city ( basketball , hockey , athletics , mile running , cycling / triathlon and hiking ).
