London Games Week

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The London Games Week was a week of events organized by the media company CMP in 2003 in the British capital London on the subject of computer games . The events aimed at consumers as well as developers , publishers and retailers in the last week of August and the first week of September were intended to increase the presence of the entertainment software industry in public and in the media.

The focus of the largest European computer game event was primarily the ECTS game fair , alongside the Game Developers Conference Europe and Sony's consumer event PlayStation Experience . These events were supplemented by various other press conferences, celebrations and award ceremonies such as the Entertainment Software Charity Ball , Games Market and the Develop Awards in Kensington .

TV and radio stations and newspapers reported extensively on the various events. The reporting in a media center was coordinated by the public relations agency Bastion.

The British publishers association ELSPA , which had supported the London Games Week 2003, initiated the competition event London Interactive the following year , which was also supported by Mayor Livingstone and which was held at the same time as the London Games Week 2004. In 2005 organizer CMP announced its withdrawal from Great Britain, which also meant the end of the ECTS game fair. However, since the ECTS had been the focus of the London Games Week, and probably also because of the more successful London Interactive event, the London Games Week has not taken place since then.
