Lonely Island (from English lonely , alone, lonely, deserted ) is a small island off the south coast and near the western end of South Georgia . It is located 1.3 km northeast of Cape Parjadin .
Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations mapped it between 1926 and 1930 and gave it its descriptive name.
