Designed by Jean Dumontier and operated by the Société de transport de Montréal , the station is located south of the city center of Longueuil, not far from Pont Jacques-Cartier and Autoroute 20 . Access to the station is via the Place Charles-Lemoyne shopping center above . The platform level includes two side platforms at a depth of 4.3 meters. This makes Longueuil, next to Angrignon, the least deep station on Metro Montreal. The distance to the neighboring station Jean-Drapeau is 1572.10 meters (measured from station end to station start). Compared to the rest of the metro network, the architecture, apart from an abstract wall relief, is not very appealing.

The Terminus de Longueuil bus station is integrated into the building complex consisting of a shopping center and metro station . It is operated by the transport company Agence métropolitaine de transport and serves as the terminus for over 60 bus routes. These open up the city of Longueuil and other communities in the Rive-Sud region . There are also several long-distance bus lines . A park-and-ride with 2,370 parking spaces also contributes to the large volume of traffic at the station . Skywalks connect the station complex with neighboring buildings. These include a campus of the Université de Sherbrooke , the Longueuil Municipal Court and various administrative buildings and high-rise residential buildings.

history

The station opened on March 31, 1967, along with the yellow line to Montreal. It was called Longueuil for almost four decades . This city name is derived from Charles le Moyne de Longueuil et de Châteauguay (1626–1685), the local seigneur in the 17th century. On September 26, 2003, the station received the addition of Université-de-Sherbrooke , at the request of the university, which has had a second campus in Longueuil since 1989.
