from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rive-Sud (English South Shore ), also called Couronne Sud ("southern rim"), is the collective term for the southern suburbs of Montreal . They are located in the southwest of the province of Québec along the south bank of the Saint Lawrence River , opposite the island of Île de Montréal . The region comprises 28 municipalities in the Montérégie administrative region . Many of these communities are actually east of Montreal as the St. Lawrence River changes its direction of flow.
