Looper is a British indie pop band from Glasgow .
history
Looper was founded in 1998 by Stuart David, a member of Belle and Sebastian from 1996 to 2000 , and his wife Karn David. The band first performed with a show at the Glasgow School of Art . Her first single Impossible Things was released a few months later on the American music label Sub Pop . Shortly thereafter, guitarist Ronnie Black and keyboardist Scott Twynholm joined the band.
Her debut album, Up a Tree , was released in 1999 in the United States on Sub Pop and worldwide through Jeepster Recordings. The second album The Geometrid followed in 2000 . After a three-month US tour with The Flaming Lips , they switched to the Mute Records label , where the third album The Snare was released in 2002 .
Her pieces of music are often used in films and commercials. They licensed their plays for films such as The Fat Years Are Over , The Girl Next Door or Happy Accidents . Their play Mondo 77 has been featured in several films including Vanilla Sky and a Xerox commercial, grossing the band over £ 500,000 in royalties over several years. This means that the band is largely independent of record sales.
