The Loorenkopf tower

The Loorenkopf is the field name of an outstanding terrain form on the eastern edge of the summit of the Adlisberg , known for the Loorenkopf observation tower built there . The place is north of Zurich's Witikon district at 694  m in the forest.

The Loorenkopf tower is a 33 meter high wooden tower, built in 1954 by the Zurich Improvement Association . The top platform can be reached via 153 steps. On Föntays you can see the Eiger , Mönch and Jungfrau .

With the introduction of the southern approaches to Zurich Airport in autumn 2003, its lighting turned out to be necessary, against which the city of Zurich defended itself without success.
