Lord Spynie

Lord Spynie was a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Scotland .

Award and history of the title

The title was on November 4, 1590 by King James VI. awarded to Sir Alexander Lindsay . The king had already enfeoffed this on July 29, 1587 with the eponymous Spynie Palace on Loch Spynie in Moray . He was a younger son of David Lindsay, 10th Earl of Crawford of the Lindsay clan .

The title has been suspended since the death of his grandson, the 3rd Lord, in January 1671.
