Lorenz Höcker

Lorenz Höcker ( 7 December 1910 - 13 January 1983 ) was a German labor and social lawyer .

Life

Lorenz Höcker was a lawyer in Essen and in-house counsel for the German Coal Mining Management (DKBL) and, after its incorporation, from 1952 onwards to the Ruhr Mining Association .

Together with Martin Johannsen, he was significantly involved in the preparation of a law on co-determination in mining companies and the iron and steel-producing industry. The Co-Determination Act for the coal and steel industry added a new level of co-determination at company level. In coal and steel companies (mining, iron and steel) with more than 1,000 employees, the supervisory board is made up of employee and capital representatives on an equal footing; the company's board of directors is expanded to include a labor director (not appointed against the majority of employee representatives on the supervisory board).

Because of social and ethical issues he stood in the exchange of views with Joseph Cardinal Hoffner .

In 1959 he was appointed Knight of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Nicola Cardinal Canali and invested on June 6, 1959 by Lorenz Jaeger , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy . As the successor to Friedrich August von der Heydte from 1965 to 1967 he was governor of the German Lieutenancy of the Knightly Order of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem. 1967 and 1968 to 1970 he was Chancellor of the German Lieutenancy.
