Los Angeles Tennis Center
The Los Angeles Tennis Center is a tennis facility on the grounds of the University of California, Los Angeles . It was built for the 1984 Summer Olympics and opened on May 20, 1984. The demonstration tournaments in tennis were held on it before tennis was reinstated in the Olympic competition program in 1988. After the facility was completed, the UCLA Bruins tennis teams relocated their competitions and training sessions to the Los Angeles Tennis Center. The men's team has played there since 1985, and the women's team since 1997. In 1984, 1987 and 1988 the NCAA Women's Tennis Championships and in 1987 the NCAA Men's Tennis Championships were held here. Until 2012 it was the venue for the WTA and ATP tournaments . The area includes eight lighted courts with hard courts . There is space for a total of 10,000 spectators, 5,800 of them on Center Court.
In 1997 , the Los Angeles Tennis Center hosted the Beach Volleyball World Championship .
