At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles , from August 6th to 11th, 1984, an individual for women and men was held in tennis as a demonstration competition. The games took place on the grounds of the Los Angeles Tennis Center on the grounds of the University of California on hard court.
Only players under 21. A game for the bronze medal was not played.

In the men's competition, the 18-year-old Swede Stefan Edberg won the Grand Slam last year as the only male tennis professional to date . He was also the reigning junior world champion. In the course of the tournament he defeated the top seeded Jimmy Arias in the semifinals and finally the Mexican Francisco Maciel in the final . He didn't drop a set in the whole tournament.

The women’s triumph was the German Steffi Graf , who four years later won the so far unique Golden Slam at the first official edition of the Games . In 1984, when she was 15, she was ranked 8th and gave up a set twice during the tournament.
