Los Javaloyas

Los Javaloyas is a Spanish pop band founded in 1952 . According to some media articles, the formation was the longest-serving pop band in the country in 2014.

history

The band name of today's sextet , which currently includes three Mallorcans, goes back to the founder and front man Luís Pérez Javaloyas (vocals, piano and flute), then 24 years old. He teamed up with five musicians in Valencia . After moving to the tourism-dominated Palma , Rafael Torres (accordion and guitar), Antonio Felany (drums and trumpet), Serafin Nebot (saxophone, clarinet and violin) and Tony Covas (double bass) were part of the party.

Initially, the band played on Mallorca , later followed by appearances in European cities and then worldwide. In Germany they played a concert with the Beatles . In the 1970s the band performed at various hit festivals. They were also in two films, shot in Caracas and Rome . On November 5, 2014, the band members still alive were honored with a concert evening in the Teatro Principal in Palma .
