Lothar Bredella

Lothar Christian Bredella (born May 21, 1936 in Breslau ; † June 10, 2012 in Gießen ) was a German linguist.

Life

Bredella studied at the Universities of Erlangen , Bristol / England and Frankfurt / Main and then worked at the Offenbach study seminar. He received his doctorate in 1968 from the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . After working in school he became a university professor for English in Frankfurt in 1972 and in 1975 was offered a professorship at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen for didactics of English language and literature . From 1994 to 2003 he was also head of the graduate school "Didactics of Understanding Another". In 2004 he retired.

Bredella was from 1984 to 1987 chairman of the "German Society for American Studies" and from 1991 to 1993 chairman of the German Society for Foreign Language Research .
