Lothar Penners

Lothar Penners ISch (* 1942 in Fulda ) is a German Catholic theologian , Schoenstatt Father and from 2003 to 2015 the movement leader of the German Schoenstatt Movement . He is a member of the Central Council of the German Schoenstatt Movement and Head of the Schoenstatt Academic Movement .

Life

Lothar Penners studied Catholic theology in Munich , Münster in Westphalia and Freiburg im Breisgau . He was with a thesis on Father Kentenich with Professor Klaus Hemmerle for Doctor of theology doctorate . He worked in pastoral care and in the headquarters of the Schoenstatt Movement. He holds a professorship for human sciences and philosophy at the Philosophical-Theological University of Vallendar and teaches in the area of ​​theological borderline issues in particular.

In 1993 Penners became a member of the provincial leadership of the Sion Province of Schoenstatt Fathers . Ten years later, on January 22nd, 2003 he was appointed by the regional presidium of the movement to succeed Father Tilmann Beller as the new movement leader of the German Schoenstatt Movement, when he took up this position on March 12th, 2003. He exercised it for two terms. On September 22nd, 2015 the Presidium of the German Schoenstatt Movement elected Father Ludwig Güthlein as his successor.
