Lothar Wegehenkel

Lothar Wegehenkel (* 1944 ) is a German economic theorist with a focus on environmental economics and institutional economics .

Life

Wegehenkel studied economics at the University of Freiburg . He taught environmental economics at the University of Bayreuth until 1992 when he accepted an appointment at the TU Ilmenau . In Ilmenau he taught economic theory until his retirement in 2009.

Wegehenkel dealt with the application of the theories of external effects , the Coase theorem and the new political economy to questions of environmental and institutional economics.
