Lothar von Seltmann (* 1943 in Cracow ) is a German writer and song poet.

Life

At the age of four, Lothar von Seltmann became an orphan. His father (born January 12, 1917) - his name was also Lothar - was a staunch National Socialist, a member of the Waffen SS stationed in occupied Krakow and took part in the suppression of the Warsaw Uprising in 1944; he died in Wroclaw in January 1945. The mother died of typhus in Thuringia in autumn 1947. Lothar von Seltmann was taken in by a foster family on a farm in Siegerland , where he grew up. After completing his studies, he worked as a primary and secondary school teacher, later as the principal of the Adolf Reichwein secondary school in Hilchenbach - Dahlbruch . During this time he was very active musically: he wrote and composed around 150 songs, some of which were included in the community songbook. He also worked in choirs and as a soloist with Christian music producers such as Margret Birkenfeld and Johannes Haas . He also produced a CD with his own songs.

In his youth, Lothar von Seltmann was strongly influenced by the local Christian community. In 1958, at the age of 15, he met at a evangelistic meeting of Anton Schulte 's decision to entrust his life to Jesus Christ. He has stuck to this decision to this day (as of 2012).

After a serious accident in 1991, v. Seltmann took early retirement in 1993.

During the long convalescence he discovered and developed his literary talent. In the rehab clinic he met Miluscha, a woman with a very eventful life. She became his first character in a novel.

Von Seltmann writes novel biographies, most of which appear in the evangelical publisher R. Brockhaus . In each of his books the author traces the experiences of a main character who is (or was) known personally. V. Seltmann describes how people experience healing and forgiveness and which special answers to prayer, preservation and guidance they experience. The author expresses his conviction that we humans can only find meaning and fulfillment in our lives in our relationship with Jesus Christ.

Von Seltmann is a volunteer and a. in the German EC Association , in the Gnadau Pedagogical Working Group and in the Mission for Southeast Europe.

He is married to Ulla. The two have three grown children and six grandchildren.

One of his children - Uwe von Seltmann (* 1964) - wrote the book Silence the perpetrators, talk the grandchildren . In it he reports on the research that he did to shed light on the life of his grandfather (i.e. his father's father).
