Louis-Fürnberg monument in the park on the Ilm

The Louis Fürnberg monument in Weimar was created by Martin Reiner and Franz Dospiel .

The bronze head for the monumental monument to Louis Fürnberg near the Weimar City Palace in Park an der Ilm was created by Martin Reiner in 1961, while Franz Dospiel made the base from travertine . Fürnberg, who died in Weimar on June 23, 1957, as well as Dospiel and Martin Reiner came from Czechoslovakia . He is remembered for the early history of the GDR with the party's song , for which Ernst Busch composed the melody . He is said to have said once that this song would one day be very harmful to him. Indeed it did, for it is almost exclusively associated with it in the memory. The Polish national poet Adam Mickiewicz , to whom Fürnberg dedicated the meeting in Weimar , is also not far from the city palace as an Adam Mickiewicz monument , but in such a way that a visual relationship is not possible.
