Life

Brandt was engaged as a tenor at the Hoftheater Kassel (1803-1804). In 1807 he made his debut as a tenor at the Frankfurt City Theater , where he was engaged in the 1806/1807 season. In the season 1807/1808 he then worked for the first and second tenor roles and acting roles at the Hoftheater Mannheim , but could not bring it to any significance there. In 1809 he appeared again at the Stadttheater Frankfurt.

His stage roles included u. a. Marney in the opera The Interrupted Festival of Sacrifice by Peter von Winter , the Infant in Una cosa rara by Vicente Martín y Soler and the title role in Achilles by Ferdinand Paër .

Brandt had been married to the Mannheim singer and actress Margarethe Danzi (around 1790–1866), a daughter of Franz and Maria Margarethe Danzi , since around 1815 . Brandt's sister was the actress Caroline Brandt , who was married to Carl Maria von Weber .
