Louis D. Lighton

Louis D. Lighton (born November 25, 1895 in Omaha , Nebraska , † February 1, 1963 in Palma , Spain ) was an American screenwriter and film producer .

Life

Lighton began his career in the film business as a screenwriter. In the 1920s he was involved in 40 productions, most recently in 1927 with Wings . In 1928 he turned to film production and was responsible for 36 films up to and including 1951. He worked with director Henry Hathaway on several productions .

Several of his films, including Manuel (1937) and The Test Pilot (1938), were each nominated for an Oscar in the Best Picture category. Lighton himself was awarded the Medal of Honor at the Photoplay Awards in 1937.
