Louis François Bégoz
Louis François Bégoz (born February 17, 1763 in Aubonne , † January 16, 1827 in Lausanne ) was a Swiss lawyer and Minister of War and Foreign Affairs of the Helvetic Republic . He was a Reformed faith and a Freemason .
Life
From 1780 to 1783 Bégoz was a second lieutenant in the Sardinian service and then completed a law degree . In 1789 he was the banner lord of Aubonne; from 1790 independent lawyer. In January 1798 he became a member of the provisional state parliament. In the Helvetic Republic he was Minister of War from May 2, 1798 to October 15, 1798 and Foreign Minister until November 22, 1801. In 1802 he took part in the Consulta in Paris without a formal mandate . Bégoz, who represented a moderate- Unitarianism , withdrew from public life in 1803 .
