Louis Néel Medal
The Louis Néel Medal has been an award for magnetism , paleomagnetism and petrophysics, which has been awarded annually since 1994 . It has been awarded by the European Geosciences Union (EGU) since 2004 , before that by the European Geophysical Society (EGS). It is named after the Nobel laureate Louis Néel , known for research in the field of magnetism.
It is awarded for outstanding contributions to the geosciences that have arisen through the transfer of experimental and theoretical methods from solid-state physics .
