Yves Guéguen
Yves Guéguen (born March 30, 1949 in Erquy ) is a French geophysicist.
Life
Gueguen studied at the Ecole Normale Superieure in Saint-Cloud from 1968 to 1973 and at Caltech in 1971/72 . From 1973 he worked for the CNRS at the University of Nantes , where he completed his habilitation in 1979 (Thèse de Doctorat). In 1981 he became professor of geophysics at the University of Strasbourg , from 1993 to 1996 he was professor at the University of Rennes and from 1996 he was professor of geophysics at the École normal supérieure in Paris, where he heads the laboratory for geology.
Among other things, he dealt with the deformation and elastic behavior of materials in the earth's mantle at high temperatures (since his dissertation in Nantes) and with the seismic properties and transport properties of sedimentary rock.
In 2009 he received the Louis Néel Medal .
