Louis Ricquier
Louis Ricquier (born August 17, 1792 in Antwerp , † April 18, 1884 in Paris ) was a Belgian history and genre painter as well as portraitist and art teacher.
Ricquier studied at the Académie royale des beaux-arts d'Anvers with Mathieu Ignace van Brée . He then worked with Philippe Jacques van Bree, first in Paris, and from 1816 to 1819 in Italy. He then spent a few years in Antwerp, settled permanently in Paris in 1840, where he ran a studio in which he taught many students.
Between 1832 and 1842 he visited Italy several times. He married the daughter of Mathieu Ignace van Brée and regularly participated in Belgian and Paris salons.
