Louise Lorraine (born October 1, 1904 in San Francisco , California as Louise Escovar , † February 2, 1981 in New York City ) was an American actress .

Life

Louise Lorraine grew up with her widowed mother and five siblings in Los Angeles , where she was accidentally discovered by a photography agent when she opened the door to him. Through his contacts with film studios, Lorraine got her first film role in 1920 after initial concerns of her mother. After several productions for various studios, she first stood in front of the camera for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer , then for Universal Studios . Notoriety she gained primarily through adventure serials such as The Radio King and With Stanley in Africa , both of which appeared 1922nd The year before, she played the role of Jane in a Tarzan film adaptation in the adventure film The Adventures of Tarzan as the third actress .

Also in 1922, Lorraine was named one of the WAMPAS Baby Stars , who were predicted to have a particularly successful career in Hollywood. After the end of the silent film era, however, her career came to an end. Lorraine starred in only five sound films before ending her acting career in 1932.

Louise Lorraine was married twice. Her first marriage to actor Art Acord was divorced in 1928. Her second marriage to Chester J. Hubbard lasted until his death in 1963. The couple had two children together. Lorraine died in New York on February 2, 1981 at the age of 76. She was buried in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood.
