Loukanikos († 2014 in Athens ) was a street dog from Athens who stayed in the midst of demonstrations and riots during the protests against the austerity measures as a result of the Greek sovereign debt crisis from 2010 and thus attracted worldwide media attention as a "riot dog".

The daily news reported on Loukanikos and the English newspaper The Economist featured him on the front page. In 2011, Loukanikos was voted Personality of the Year by the US magazine Time , along with other protesters from around the world .

In October 2014, several Greek media outlets reported Loukanikos's death. In 2012 he was taken in by a family in Athens, where he died at the age of around 10. The chemical substances he inhaled during the riots are said to have harmed his health. He is said to be buried on a hill in downtown Athens.
