Love Shack (dt. Love nest , lit. love hut ) is a song by the American band The B-52’s . It was released in September 1989 as a single from their album Cosmic Thing . The piece was the band's first million seller. It was ranked # 243 of the 500 best songs of all time by the music magazine Rolling Stone .

The piece was written by Kate Pierson , Fred Schneider , Keith Strickland and Cindy Wilson and produced by Don Was . It became the band's first Top 10 hit in the United States, where it reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100 . The inspiration for the song came from a hut near Athens ( Georgia ), lived in Pierson singer in the 1970s. In 2004 it burned down.
The piece received a number of awards. So it was named as one of the Songs of the Century by the Recording Industry Association of America .
