Kate Pierson (born April 27, 1948 in Weehawken , New Jersey ) is an American musician and singer in the rock band The B-52’s from Athens , Georgia . She also plays keyboard , guitar and bass for the band.


Kate Pierson has performed in the following singers and bands:

  • Ramones , on Chop Suey with Cindy Wilson and Debbie Harry in the early 1980s ,
  • Fred Schneider , on his first solo album in 1984 with the song Monster ,
  • Iggy Pop , on the Top 20 Song Candy in 1990,
  • REM , with the songs Shiny Happy People , Country Feedback and Me in Honey on the 1991 album Out of Time and with Fretless from 1991 for the soundtrack Until the End of the World ,
  • Matthew Sweet , on the 1993 album Earth ,
  • Junior Senior , on the song Take My Time from the 2005 album Hey Hey My My Yo Yo (with Cindy Wilson)
  • She was also a member of the Japanese band NiNa with Yuki Isoya .


Private and miscellaneous

Pierson has been married to her long-term partner, the hotel operator Monica Coleman, since 2015. Together with her, she is the owner of the Kate's Lazy Meadow Motel in Mount Tremper , New York , a rustic, modern motel in the Catskill Mountains near Woodstock .

She played a club owner in the episode "What Goes on Tour" of the Flight of the Conchords series .
