Loving Annabelle is an American independent drama from 2006 in which a teacher at a Catholic girls' boarding school and one of her students fall in love. The main roles are played by Diane Gaidry and Erin Kelly.

action

Already flown from two schools, the 17-year-old senator's daughter Annabelle finally comes to the Catholic boarding school for girls at St. Theresa, which is run by the strict mother Immaculata. There she soon casts an eye on the 32-year-old committed literature teacher Simone Bradley. At first she is seen by them as a troublemaker, but Simone soon realizes that there is much more to Annabelle and that she is a very smart, attentive and, for her age, astonishingly adult young woman.

Annabelle soon ends up with mother Immaculata, who orders her to put on a large wooden cross every day she refuses to take off her Buddhist prayer chain (which is against the dress code of the boarding school). In a later conversation, however, Simone can convince Annabelle to remove the prayer chain.

A friendship develops between Annabelle and Simone. Annabelle finds out that Simone's great love was a woman who committed suicide. Simone now lives in an obviously very unhappy relationship with her boyfriend Michael. However, she realizes that Annabelle is the one who awakens the feelings in her that she had long suppressed. Annabelle, who has long since fallen in love with Simone, tries again and again to get closer to her. After Annabelle made several advances and just as many (albeit not very convincing) rejections from Simone, they spend a night of love together. This affair is destined to shake everything Simone believed in so far.

On the morning after the night of love, they are caught by Mother Immaculata (half-dressed) in the room and Simone is finally arrested.

There is an alternate ending on the DVD in which the charges against Simone are dropped.

criticism

“Based on the classic Girls in Uniform (1931), the film appears to be libertarian, but fails because of its average staging. In the last third it only offers clichés on supposedly taboo topics. "
