The lake Lovozero ( Russian Ловозеро , Kildinsamisch : уяввьр , Finnish Luujärvi , Skoltsamisch : Luujäu'rr , Northern Sami : Lujávri ) located on the Kola -Halbinsel in Murmansk Oblast ( Russia ). The river Voronja forms its outflow to the north to the Barents Sea . The area is about 200 km², the average depth 5.7 m, the maximum depth 35 m. Annual fluctuations in the water level are less than 1 m. The average retention time of the water in the lake is 10 months. The lake is strongly divided by peninsulas and islands. The lake is located east of the Lowosero tundra .

In 1970 two hydropower plants were built on the Voronja near Serebryansk, about 100 km downstream from the lake. The dam at the hydroelectric power station damms the Voronja into a reservoir, which has the same water level as the Lowosero lake, so that these two bodies of water have merged into one.
