Loanza , also Luanza , is a 1,100 m high town with 10,000 inhabitants (2006) on the northwest bank of Lake Mweru in the province of Haut-Katanga in the Democratic Republic of the Congo .
Loanza is a fishing village above the Mweru lake on its mountainous side. It is the northern end of the lakeside settlement on the Congolese side. After that, the banks become steep and uninhabitable.
There is an unpaved 1,000 m runway. It is the only one on the western side of the lake to Kilwa on the south bank and Pweto on the north bank.
