Lucía Huergo

Lucía Huergo Guitián (born November 17, 1951 in Havana ; † May 1, 2015 there ) was a Cuban composer, music producer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist.

Huergo mastered a number of wind instruments, including flute, clarinet, saxophone and oboe, and played keyboards. She received her training as a composer from Leo Brouwer and Federico Smith . In the 1980s she joined Carlos Alfonso's group Síntesis , whose albums Hilo directo (1986) and An-cestros (1987) contain some of her compositions in which she combined elements of African music, rock and electronic music. With the group Mez-cla of guitarist Pablo Menéndez , she recorded the albums Cantos (1992) and Fronteras de sueños (1994).

In addition to the singers Sara González and Amaury Pérez , musicians such as Teresita Fernández , Xiomara Laugart , Miriam Ramos , Liuba María Hevia , Yusa , Heidi Igualada and Ireno García were among her partners. She belonged to the orchestra of Octavio Sánchez Olaguive , the group of Franco Laganá and the group Sonido Contemporáneo . She also released several albums of her own, including Sinfonía Hemingway and Lucía y Zona azul . In 1993 she founded her own recording studio.
