The Refuge de Font Turbat is a refuge belonging to the Isère section of the Club Alpin Français . It is located in France in Pelvoux in the commune of Valjouffrey in the Isère department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region .
It consists of two buildings. The current refuge was built in 1962, offers 39 places and is located at an altitude of 2169 m . The former refuge, built in 1922 at an altitude of 2194 m , is now used as a winter hut with 14 places. The refuges are managed by the Isère Departmental Committee.
history
The old, small hut dates from 1922. In the off-season, the entrance is on the south side, through the window. In 1962 the Club Alpin Français built a new hut with 26 seats. It was designed by the architect Lederlin.
activities
The Refuge de Font Turbat serves as the starting point for l'Olan , both for the normal route from the north summit, where the main routes of the north-west face (Voie Devies-Gervasutti and Voie Couzy-Desmaison), and for the Brèche de l'Olan ( 2970 m ), which allows access to the Vallon de la Muande and the Refuge de la Lavey . It is also possible to climb the Pointe Maximin and the Pic Turbat.
There are high mountain hiking trails with the Refuge de l'Olan , Refuge des Souffles and Refuge de la Lavey . A ski touring route leads to the Brêche de l'Olan.
