Luc Gnacadja
Luc-Marie Constant Gnacadja (born October 19, 1958 ) is a Beninese politician and architect.
From June 1999 to February 2005 he was Minister for Environment, Housing and Urban Development in the government of President Mathieu Kérékou . In 2006 he was the presidential candidate for the Envol movement and came 11th with 0.68% of the vote. In March 2003 the World Bank awarded him the Green Award of 2002. Gnacadja has chaired a number of international ministerial conferences, meetings and workshops in the fields of the environment, urban planning , regional planning and sustainable development , including the African Conference of Environment Ministers and the Commission on Sustainable Development . He also served as the leader of the delegation to the Conference of the Parties to the Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Convention on Biological Diversity .
In September 2007 Gnacadja was appointed Executive Secretary of the Secretariat of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). He took office on October 1, 2007.
Luc Gnacadja is a member of the World Future Council .
