history

In 1924, Hermann Luchterhand founded the “Publishing House for Law and Taxes” in Berlin , which quickly developed into a leading specialist publisher in Germany. As a result of the Second World War , the headquarters of the publishing house had to be relocated to Neuwied am Rhein . In 1954, Luchterhand-Verlag decided to publish literary publications as well. The authors who published at Luchterhand include u. a. also Günter Grass .

The separation of the literary and social science areas was decided in 1972 and took place in the form of two independent publishers. For the sociology particularly the then picked row was sociological texts important that Frank BENSELER , Friedrich Furstenberg and Heinz mouse out tasks.

The literary branch is known today as Luchterhand Literaturverlag . Luchterhand Fachverlag has meanwhile been dissolved as a company and has become a brand of Wolters Kluwer Germany in Cologne . His publications are mainly aimed at practitioners in the fields of law, economics and taxation. Wolters Kluwer sold the program of socio-educational titles to Ernst Reinhardt Verlag in 2004 .
