Lucius Annaeus Cornutus
Lucius Annaeus Cornutus was an ancient Roman philosopher of the Stoic direction.
Cornutus came from Leptis Magna in Libya, but mostly lived in Rome . He lived at the time of Emperor Nero . He is best known as the teacher and friend of the poet Aulus Persius Flaccus , whose satires he edited for publication after his friend's death and then handed over to Caesius Bassus for publication at his request.
In 66 or 68 Cornutus was banished by Nero for indirectly denigrating the emperor's plan to write a Roman story in heroic verse . Thereafter, no more data is available about him.
Cornutus wrote rhetorical works in both Latin and Greek. Traces of his rhetorical teaching have been preserved in later rhetoricians, including in Anonymus Seguerianus .
