Lucius Papirius Cursor (Consul 326 BC)

Lucius Papirius Cursor was a general and politician of the Roman Republic .

Papirius was according to the fasting five times for consul selected (326, 320, 319, 315 and 313 v. Chr.), It was twice dictator (325/324 and 309 v. Chr.). He is listed three times as Magister equitum (340, 320 and 319 BC) and just as often as Triumphator (324, 319 and 309 BC). 325 BC He was appointed "dictator rei gerundae causa" in order to wage the Second Samnite War (326–304 BC), of which he became the main hero.

Papirius was an excellent general and a man of ancient Roman rigor and efficiency. 324 BC As a dictator, he condemned his Magister equitum Quintus Fabius Maximus Rullianus to death for a battle he had fought against his orders and was only persuaded to pardon him by the combined requests of the father, the Senate and the people.

Also his son Lucius Papirius Cursor , consul 293 BC. BC, fought victoriously against the Samnites.
