Lucius Salvius Otho Titianus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lucius Salvius Otho Titianus (* before 32 in Ferentium ; † after 69) was a Roman politician, senator and brother of the emperor Otho .

Titianus came from Ferentium and was the son of Lucius Salvius Otho , suffect consul in 33, and of Albia Terentia. His wife was Cocceia. His son Lucius Salvius Otho Cocceianus was a suffect consul in 82.

In 52 Titianus became a full consul and in 63/64 or maybe 64/65 proconsul of the province of Asia . In 69 he became a suffect consul with his brother. At the beginning of April 69, Otho entrusted Titianus with the supreme command of his troops. After the defeat at Betriacum and the suicide of Othos, Titianus led the peace negotiations with the Vitellians and thus saved his life. Titianus was the promagister of the Arval brothers (probably in the year 62).
