Ludger May

Ludger Mai (* 1941 in Berlin ) is a German organist .

As a child he learned the piano , flute and violin . As a high school student he started playing the organ. He studied at the Berlin Conservatory. This was followed by studies with Walter Kraft in Freiburg. Further studies took him to France to study with Rolande Falcinelli , Jean Langlais and Jean Guillou . He worked as Guillou's deputy on the organ in the parish church of St-Eustache de Paris . After twelve years at St. Matthias in Berlin, he became organist at the cathedral in Essen in 1982 . He held the office of cathedral organist at Essen Cathedral until 1998.
