Ludger Schulze

Ludger Schulze (born July 28, 1950 in Beckum , Westphalia) is a German sports journalist and book author .

Life

Schulze studied German, history and social studies before completing a traineeship at the Süddeutsche Zeitung (SZ) in Munich . Later he headed the sports department of the SZ, for which he also worked as deputy head of the page 3 report department. Schulze belonged to the SZ from 1976 to 2010, with a brief interruption during which he was editor-in-chief and chief editor of a Nuremberg publishing house. Schulze reported on numerous football world and European championships as well as the Olympic summer and winter games. In 1993 he was “Sports Journalist of the Year”, and in 2017 he was honored by the Association of German Sports Journalists (VDS) for his life's work. The reason stated: “Schulze is one of the best sports journalists Germany has ever produced. A defining character and writer of the Süddeutsche Zeitung. ”The laudator, Jupp Heynckes , said of Schulze at the time:“ His nicely worded articles, interspersed with fine irony, were often journalistic gems, which even in the southern German, who is really not embarrassed for good writers Newspaper 'stand out ”. Ludger Schulze is an appointed member of the German Academy for Football Culture , was a juror and several times laudator at the award of the German Football Culture Prize . Today he works as a freelance journalist. He lives in Laufen on the Salzach.
