history
The Ludwig Erhard School in Pforzheim has its origins in the division of the commercial college in 1964. On July 15, 1965, the school started its work. 15 teachers taught 592 students in 17 classes at the vocational school and 7 classes at the vocational school. The head of this school was named Oberstudiendirektor Mitsch. The Ludwig Erhard School developed in the direction of a commercial educational institution. The number of students increased steadily and has fluctuated between 1,600 and 1,800 students since 1975.
Head of Studies Gerhard Müller, from the 1986/87 school year headmaster, arranged for the room situation to be improved. The sports hall of the Ludwig-Erhard-Schule was built and inaugurated for the 25th anniversary of the school. In addition, the construction of a new part of the building was initiated. In the 1996/97 school year, Senior Studies Director Rolf Becker took over the management of the Ludwig Erhard School. He ensured an expansion of the range of services in the full-time and part-time area and a profile development of the school with the focus
- Junior and learning companies
- Intercultural learning and international school partnerships
- Second education / adult education
From the 2011/2012 school year to 2015/16, senior studies director Erhard Hofmeister was headmaster of the Ludwig-Erhard-Schule. Quality management was systematized under his direction and the school successfully passed the first external evaluation by the State Institute for School Development in 2012. A lecture tour with prominent personalities from politics and business gave students an insight into issues of the time. The annual practice company fair organized by the Ludwig-Erhard-Schule in the Pforzheimer congress center with sometimes over 70 exhibiting junior and practice companies developed into a crowd puller for vocational schools in Baden-Württemberg. Since September 2017, the school has been run by Principal Studies Director Claus Freund. The dual work preparation course was introduced for the 2019/20 school year.

The academy is financed by contributions from its members and donations and income from the sale of the school yearbook.
