Ludwig Abel (Semitist)

Ludwig Abel (born May 18, 1863 in Basel , † June 25, 1900 in Erlangen ) was a German Semitist .

Ludwig Abel was the son of the concertmaster of the Bavarian court orchestra and inspector and professor at the Academy of Music in Munich Ludwig Abel and his wife Berta. After working as a private lecturer at the Royal Friedrich Wilhelms University in Berlin, he was appointed associate professor for Semitic philology at the philosophy faculty of the University of Erlangen in 1894 .
