Ludwig Carl Christian Koch (born November 8, 1825 in Regensburg , † November 1, 1908 in Nuremberg ) was a German entomologist and arachnologist (insect and spider researcher).

Ludwig Carl Christian Koch was the son of the famous arachnologist Carl Ludwig Koch (1778–1857). He studied law at the University of Erlangen before turning to medicine and the natural sciences in 1847. In the same year he joined the Zoological-Mineralogical Association in Regensburg. In 1851 he received his doctorate, from 1853 he worked as a general practitioner in the Nuremberg district of Wöhrd .

He is considered to be one of the four most important representatives of insect and spider science in the second half of the 19th century and, in addition to native species, described z. B. also arachnids from the Mediterranean, from Asia (Siberia, Japan) and Australia. The species he describes have the addition of L. Koch . This work as a specialist researcher in the field of spiders earned him a worldwide reputation as a spider cook . Later Koch mainly dealt with conchylia .
