Ludwig Döll
Friedrich Ludwig Theodor Döll , also Friedrich-Ludwig-Theodor Döll and Friedrich Ludwig Theodor Doell (born February 10, 1789 in Gotha , † July 29, 1863 in Altenburg ) was a German portrait painter, son of the sculptor Friedrich Wilhelm Eugen Döll .
He began his art painting apprenticeship in Gotha with his father and with Johann Christian Kühner , continued it in Weimar in 1805 with the Swiss Johann Heinrich Meyer , a friend of Goethe.
From 1806 he studied at the Dresden Academy with the history and portrait painter Josef Mathias Grassi .
As early as 1808 he painted a portrait of King Friedrich August I of Saxony . From 1809 to 1811 and from 1817 to 1821 Döll accompanied his master Grassi to Italy .
From 1812 Döll worked in Altenburg, where he taught at the drawing school.
Döll painted the portrait of Duke August von Sachsen-Gotha-Altenburg around 1822 and the portrait of Princess Luise von Sachsen Coburg and Saalfeld with children around 1823/24 .
