Ludwig Kowald

Ludwig Kowald (born February 17, 1939 in Ragnitz ; † June 1, 2007 there ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer. Kowald was a member of the National Council from 1984 to 1994 .

After attending compulsory school, Kowald graduated from the Higher Agricultural College Francisco Josephinum , where he graduated in 1959 . He also attended federal seminars in Vienna- Ober Sankt Veit and had held the title of agricultural engineer since 1964. Kowald began his professional career between 1960 and 1966 at the agricultural district authority of Styria and from 1966 to 1970 he was works council of the district chamber for agriculture and forestry in Leibnitz. He then worked from 1971 to 1985 as a specialist teacher at the agricultural college in Silberberg and, after taking over a farm in 1971, also worked as a farmer.

Politically, Kowald worked as mayor of Ragnitz from 1971 and was also district chairman of the Styrian farmers' union in Leibnitz between 1974 and 1984. In addition, between 1976 and 1985 he was chairman of the district chamber for agriculture and forestry in Leibnitz and from 1983 to 1996 district party chairman of the ÖVP Leibnitz. He was Vice President of the Austrian Comradeship Association in the Styrian Regional Association. From September 25, 1984 to April 6, 1994 he represented the ÖVP in the National Council.
