Ludwig Schauwecker (born February 12, 1929 in Pforzheim ; † June 18, 2017 in Emberg, Bad Teinach-Zavelstein ) was a German Romanist .

life and work

Schauwecker grew up in Calmbach ( Bad Wildbad ) as the son of a forester. He received his doctorate in 1956 at the University of Tübingen with the work Die Genera verbi in Provençal . He passed the state examination and was a high school teacher in Riedlingen (1961–1962). Then he went to the Free University of Berlin , where he was an assistant from 1963 to 1971 and (after his habilitation in 1971) from 1971 to 1991 professor of Romance philology.

Schauwecker was a member of the student associations AV Lichtenstein Tübingen and Corps Marchia Berlin .
