Ludwig Siep (born November 2, 1942 in Solingen ) is a German philosopher .

biography

Ludwig Siep studied philosophy, pedagogy, German studies, history and political science at the University of Cologne and at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg as a scholarship holder from the German National Academic Foundation . Siep his doctorate at the University of Freiburg in 1969 when Werner Marx to Dr. phil. with the dissertation of Hegel's Fichtekritik und die Wissenschaftslehre from 1804. He then took on an assistant position at the Philosophical Seminar there until 1978. From 1979 to 1986 Siep was a full professor at the Comprehensive University of Duisburg and then from 1986 to 2011 Professor and Director of the Philosophical Department of the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster. From 1988 to 1992 Siep worked as an expert reviewer for the history of philosophy in the DFG ( German Research Foundation ).

In 2007 Ludwig Siep was elected chairman of the Hegel Commission of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts . The commission oversees the critical Hegel edition, which is published by the Hegel archive of the Ruhr University Bochum .
