Ludwig Sternaux

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ludwig Sternaux (born July 17, 1885 in Berlin ; † September 9, 1938 there ) was a German writer, journalist , dramaturge and theater director.

Life

Ludwig Sternaux studied philology and law and worked as a theater critic for the Daily Rundschau until 1918 . He then worked for the Berliner Lokal-Anzeiger and the Berliner Zeitung Der Tag . Later he was chief dramaturge at UFA .

Ludwig Sternaux published four books on Potsdam between the two world wars . There is hardly a writer in the really extensive literature about the city of Potsdam who can reproduce his personal experiences and feelings for the city in such detail and realistically with the history, the architecture and the people.

Appreciation

He described a world that had already disappeared in his day with a touch of sadness, but always as if he had witnessed that time. So he was an "18th century reporter". And yet it is not antiquated, but invites us again and again to look for this time in today. So that we don't find them in picturesque places, but in the atmosphere of a place.
